T Minus 27 Days and Counting

Week 16
Planned: 8:25 total hours (1:30 swim, 2:40 bike, 1:30 run, 2:45 brick)

Completed: 8:27 hours (1:33 swim, 2:34 bike, 0:19 run, 1:11 crosstrain, 2:50 pseudo-brick)

It's starting to get real. Four weeks away. One HUGE week, and then it backs down from there. Most of the work is done. And, so far - knock on wood - I haven't missed a workout. I've skipped a few swims (2, I think) and during spring break week I only got ½ a swim in plus there was the short run when I got injured. But other than that … I've stayed on plan.

I've somehow gotten my head around the belief that I'll be ok on the run, despite the fact that I think I very well may not run again before the race. Fitness-wise, I've clearly got it. And even though I haven't been running, I do think the elliptical is a passable substitute - several forums/discussions have confirmed this. I just have to take it slow, walk the aid stations, and hope that my foot holds up. Taking it slow is really big. I need to focus on perceived effort, and make sure I'm zone 2 - conversational, not pushing it. I usually blow up when I push my heart rate too high, and so if I can keep it low I should be ok.
