Nope, Not Better Yet

Week 12
Planned: 7:25 total hours (1:30 swim, 2:25 bike, 1:30 run, 2:00 brick)
Completed: 7:25 hours (1:26 swim, 2:24 bike, 0:00 run, 1:30 crosstrain, 2:05 pseudo-brick)

I started the week feeling great - my foot was getting better so quickly that I thought I might not even need the full week before running again. By Friday I was thinking I might have a stress fracture after all. On Sunday I had a glimmer of hope that maybe I would be ok, and running in another week or so.

Bottom line is, one week most definitely did not clear up the “stress reaction” or whatever it is. I'm hopeful that another week - or maybe two - will do it, but I'm really worried that it won't. And while my biking is strong, and the elliptical/crossramp training definitely works my legs, without running I honestly don't feel like I'm training. I'm not working out a minute less than I would otherwise, but it just doesn't feel the same. (Or maybe this is just what 7.5 hours feels like after 9-10 for weeks on end? Who knows.)

I have pretty much decided that I'm doing the race no matter what. If I can't run for 6 weeks (5 more beyond this past one), I'll just bore myself to tears on the damn crossramp and hope I don't come back so quickly that I break the bone altogether during the race. But even if that happens I'll still crawl across that stupid finish line.

Oh - and by the way - it's possible that the injury isn't over-training after all. I wore my super-cute new Keens on Sunday and when I took them off at the end of the day the other foot hurt in the same spot. I was so confused! If it's really the shoes I'm going to shoot myself.
